Career tech teacher Stacey Jellison has been selected as the 2021-2022 Memorial High School Teacher of the Year!
One of her nominators said: "Mrs. Jellison truly cares for her students and makes a difference in their lives well beyond the subject of her classroom. Numerous times I have heard seniors praise her on senior night for the positive difference that she made in their lives. She is also supportive and helpful of other teachers. Now, more than ever, caring teachers who make positive connections with our hurting students, are needed. Stacey Jellison is that kind of teacher and person."
This is Jellison's ninth year at Memorial. She teaches Fundamentals of Technology and Multimedia.
"By far the best part about being a teacher is getting to know my students. They bring joy to my classroom every day in their own, unique ways," said Jellison. "Being at a small school like Memorial allows for the opportunity to really get to know so many of my students during their time here. It is fun to watch them grow from year to year."
Jellison said becoming a teacher was one of the best decision she has ever made.
"It is very rewarding to see students learn the content but the biggest reward is earning their respect and trust," she said. "When I hear from them about how I have positively impacted them in one way or another, I feel like I have achieved the most important part of our job and that is making each student feel valued and loved."
