2012 Holiday Canned Food Drive
Canned Food Drive

In the spirit of holiday cooperation, Memorial's
National Honor Society, AVID, and StuCo
are putting on a joint canned food drive competition!

How it works:

This is a class competition between freshman, sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

Every morning before school between Thursday, October 25 and Friday, November 15, we will have four boxes for kids to put canned and boxed goods in (one box per class). Canned or boxed goods will each earn one point.   HOWEVER each Turkey Gravy and/or box of StoveTop Stuffing can be used to DEDUCT 5 points from another grade's total points. At the end of the canned food drive, the class totals will be added, and then divided by the number of students in that class.  That levels the playing field for our classes, i.e. our 210 Seniors versus our 350 freshmen. That percentage will determine overall participation, and our winner.  The winning class will earn a FREE JEANS DAY on TUESDAY NOVEMBER 20.

The winning class will be announced on Friday, November 15 during the afternoon announcements.

On Monday, November 19, the winning class members will check in during their lunch hour with our AVID/StuCo/NHS table. We will cross their name off the official class list provided by Bonnie Youtsey and put a wristband on their wrist.  Then on Tuesday, November 20, the kids with wristbands can wear jeans. Note that kids who are shy of credits, will have to participate with the class they are truly associated with - i.e. what PowerSchool says counts.

The turkey gravy and stuffing will go towards the thanksgiving meal baskets for we provide each year for TPS kids, and the other cans will go to the Tulsa Food bank's pantry.

Please help us feed those in need by bringing in your canned goods today!
