PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Physical Education in Tulsa Public Schools is that phase of the general educational program that contributes to

the total growth and development of each student, primarily through movement experiences. Physical Education

objectives help achieve the following unique outcomes:

development and refinement of motor skills and movement competence

personal health and wellness skills

understanding of human movement principles and safety implications

lifetime activity skills

attainment of positive life skills

Tulsa Public Schools requires 1 unit (2 semesters) of physical education for graduation. Junior ROTC and

marching band may substitute for physical education. Driver education may not substitute for physical education.

Medical and religious exemptions will be honored.

The following sequences will allow students to meet the graduation requirement for Physical Education:

Physical Education I – Activity for Life or JROTC or Marching Band and any of the following elective courses:

Physical Education II – Fitness for Life

Athletic Training

Health Education

Outdoor Adventure

Weight Training Conditioning
