The College and Career Readiness Department of Tulsa Public Schools provides instruction in the areas of technology and job readiness. Preparation for employment and postsecondary education now requires similar rigor in our information- and technology-based economy. Most of the fastest growing jobs require postsecondary education and/or industry certification.
Most high school reform efforts have embraced the collaborative efforts of the core curriculum and career and technology faculty. Delivering core curriculum concepts in the context of real world applications is the intent of every CareerTech class. This department strives to accommodate the needs of its staff by providing professional development that will keep teachers abreast and adept at applying technology advancements to their curriculum. It will also provide opportunities for students to explore career options and assist them in making career pathway choices and the necessary steps in attaining their goals. Participation in student organizations is an integral component of college and career readiness as students gain leadership skills and realize the value of teamwork and community service.
