2001

  • Miss Memorial XXXIX is Heather Dickson, escorted by Ben Prosser
  • In honor of homecoming, the age old tradition of Hall Decorating returns, thanks to Student Council Sponsor Garnell Riddle
  • The Homecoming theme was “Welcome to the Jungle”
  • There was also a Homecoming Talent Show during Spirit Week
  • Mr. Memorial is N’Kendall Davis
  • Chargers of the Year Return – Natalie Newman and Blake Rambo
  • The musical is “The Music Man”
  • Student Council attends the National Convention in Cupertino, CA
  • Big Blue Machine completes at State to the theme of “Cats”
  • Concert choir’s requiem is “Coronation Mass” by Mozart
  • Show Choir performs the music of “Grease”
  • New club – Hispanic Club
  • The Dance Line is renamed the Stomp Team, and wins 1st place in OKC Competition
  • Holly Ball is held at the Civic Center on December 9, 2000
  • Student Council holds a mock “Singled Out” show in the cafeteria (a dating game on MTv), featuring some of MHS’s bravest bachelors
  • Chargers Swimmer Ryan Ferrel placed 6th in State in the 100m breast stroke
  • Boy Basketball completes a 19-4 season and places 4th in State
  • Pom ranks 19th at the UDA Nationals, 2nd place at OSDTA State Competition, and 1st place at the Broken Arrow Competition
  • Cheer ranks 24th at the UCA Nationals, 3rd place at the October Open, and 3rd place at Regionals

2002

  • Miss Memorial XL is Kristen Barnes, escorted by Ken Barton
  • Mr. Memorial is Avery Plucknett, escorted by Becky Doll
  • Chargers of the Year were Lauren Thomas and A.D. Benjamin, III
  • The musical is “South Pacific”
  • The all school play is “Arsenic and Old Lace”
  • The Holy Mass is “Beethoven  in C Major”
  • Concert choirs puts in the “Gershwin Review” and is invited to sing at Carnegie Hall
  • During the Veteran’s Day assembly on November 9, 2001, several Oklahoma veterans who served in WWII were given their diplomas, and we honored several POWs. Gamma Signa and DECA students acted as escorts and served lunch to our honored guests
  • The JROTC holds “Military Ball” on April 13th at the Holiday Inn
  • Gamma Sigma celebrates its 40th Anniversary at MHS
  • MHS has a weekly TV show called “Flavor of the Week”
  • The MHS Freedom Foundation club is awarded the George Washington Honor Medal
  • 12 Swimmers qualify for State
    • Emily Stuart places 3rd in state for diving
    • Ryan Ferrell places 2nd in 50m freestyle, and 3rd in 100m freestyl
  • Boys Basketball takes 1st place at Regionals, advances to the State Semi-Finals, and ends the season with a 23-5 record
  • 2 Charger Wrestlers qualify for State
    • Casey Newport places 4th in State for his weight class
  • The Cheerleaders place 6th in the Nation at the NCA Cheer Championships
  • Pom places 1st in state at OSDTA Competition, and 4th in the National at UDA Nationals
  • Softball has a 25-11 record, takes 1st place at All City, makes it to Semi-Finals at Regionals, and is honored as an East Region First Team
  • Boys Soccer player Erik Aguirre makes All State
  • Cross Country runners Scott Hollingsworth and Kari Coleman qualify for State
    • The Boys team wins Green Country Conference
    • The Girls team places 2nd at All City
  • Boys Track takes 3rd in Conference, and 2nd place at All City
    • There are 9 State track qualifiers on this team
  • Girls Golf rates 2nd lace in the Okmulgee and Pryor Invitationals
  • Big Blue Machine competes as the OBA (Oklahoma Bandmasters Association) State Competition and earns a spot in the Top 10
  • Powder Puff football tradition continues – with seniors beating the juniors 56-13
  • Several new clubs appear this school year – Radio Club, Break Dance Crew, SMP (Salsa/Meringue/Pop), Native American Student Association (formerly known as Indian Club), Engineering Club, sponsored by Lane and Joe Matheson
  • Latin Club attended the state convention in OKC
  • Stomp Team changes its name to Baddest Beats
  • African American society sponsors Black History Month
  • Holly Ball is held at the Tulsa Convention Center on December 15, 2001
  • Senior Prom is held at the Petroleum Club on May 10, 2002

2003

  • Miss Memorial XLI is Lori Weidman, escorted by Seth Leonard
  • Chargers of the Year are Erin Quinn, Erin Briggs and Ronnie Wood
  • The musical is “Oklahoma!”
  • The all school play is “A Christmas Carol”
  • Boys Basketball are once again the State Champions with a 26-3 season
  • Boys Golf are also State Champions, and place 1st at Conference
  • Two girls golfers qualify for State
  • During the annual Veteran’s Day assembly, members of Concert Choir dress in costumes representing every international conflict fought, including firefighters from 9/11
  • SADD performs “Shattered Dreams,” a reenactment of a deadly drunken driving accident to emphasize the importance of never drinking and driving and then follows up with Crash Court
  • Masquerade Ball is held
  • JROTC holds their annual Military Ball
  • Student Council held an all night lock-in in the big gym
  • Robotics Team is formed
  • The Softball team is the All City Champions, and sponsors students at Eugene Field elementary to make sure they all have Christmas presents
  • Chargers Wrestler Ronnie Thomas qualifies for State
  • Pom goes to Nationals once again, proving they are one of the best teams in the state
  • Baseball takes 1st at Regionals
  • Pep Club holds its annual “Wing Ding” spring semi-formal dance
  • Charlie the Charger gets a new costume
  • Prom Theme is “Wonderful Tonight”
  • Graduation is held at the Expo Square Pavilion
    • A graduation party follows at TU’s Alan Chapman Activities Center

2004

  • Miss Memorial XLI (ibid) is Tarrin McMayo, escorted by Darren Gilliland
  •  Mr. Memorial is Scott Hollingsworth, escorted by Lauren Pitts
  • The All School Play is “Up the Down Staircase”
  • The musical is “Hello Dolly”
  • This is the last year the annual musical is under the direction of Dan Call
    • Upon his retirement, the auditorium is renamed Call Hall
  • Pom performs at Three-peat as OSDTA State Champions once again
  • The Requiem Mass/Masterworks Concert is Mozart’s Credo Mass
  • Big Blue Machine goes to New York City to march in their Veteran’s Day Parade
  • Holly Ball is held at the Convention Center on December 6, 2003
  • The Charger Football teams shuts out Edison, 26-0
  • Our Softball Team are the All City Champions, with a 25-10 record
  • Baseball are State Runners Up
  • Swimmer Ryan Ferrell qualifies for State in an MHS record 6 events
    • Swimmer Scott Ferrell qualifies for State in 4 events
    • Three other swimmers qualify for State in 1-2 events each
  • Volleyball ranks 2nd at All City, and 2nd at the Green Country Conference
  • MHS has a banner year of All State Members

  • The 22nd annual Masterworks Concert is Mozart’s “Coronation Mass”
  • The Robotics Team takes 1st in Oklahoma
  • Softball pulls a Four-Peat by becoming All City Champs for the 4th year in a row
  • The Swim Team has 3 state qualifiers
  • Volleyball makes Academic All State, and places 2nd at both All City and Green Country Conference
  • Cheer goes to Nationals
  • Pom takes 1st place at the UDA Competition, 2nd place at OSDTA State Competition, and competes at UDA Nationals
  • Boys Soccer Team has three members sign with local colleges
  • The Girls Soccer Team also has three members sign with local colleges
  • Homecoming Theme is “Lucky 07”
    • As part of a Junior Class fundraiser, Principal McGinnis kisses at pig at the Homecoming Carnival
  • Due to new state regulations, MHS enacts a new attendance policy, where absences affect grades and graduation
  • The annual Veteran’s Day assembly featured a flag folding ceremony

  • Miss Memorial XLIII is Caitlin Quinn, escorted by Shane Fielding
  • Mr Memorial is Wes Phillips, escorted by Alex Hardrick
  • Chargers of the Year are Wes Phillips and Erin Hollingsworth
  • Big Blue Machine takes 1st in District, and competes at Nationals in Orlando, FL
  • Orchestra and Jazz Band also compete at Nationals in Orlando, FL
  • The Masterworks Concert is “Mass In Time of War”
  • The musical is “The Pajama Game”
  • The first ever Sounds of the Season concert is held by Concert Chorus
  • The homecoming theme is “Wizard of Oz”
  • Cheer takes 1st place at UCA Nationals, 1st place at UCA Camp, 1st place at UCA Regionals
  • Pom takes 1st at OSDTA State Competition, 1st at the Tulsa State Fair Competition, 2nd at UDA Competition, and 15th place at UDA Nationals

  • We have a new principal, Elizabeth Martin
  • Big Blue Machine performs “Wicked”
  • Concert Choir presents “Jersey Boys”
  • The Mass is “Faure’s Requiem”
  • First Year of T.E.A.M.; Tulsa Engineering Academy at Memorial
  • Pom takes 1st in OSDTA State Competition, 2nd in State in the Hip Hop Category, 4th in Nation in Hip Hop and 20th in the Nations for Pom.

  • Chargers of the Year are Blake Staab and Jordan Godfrey

  • Boys Basketball are State Champions!
  • Our Robotics Team ranks 3rd in Nation!
  • The English Class play is “Night at the Bard” (a collection of Shakespeare’s works)
  • Big Blue Machine takes 7th place at the Renegade Review, and the Drumline takes 1st place
  • Orchestra receives all excellent ratings at OSSAA Competition
  • The 25th Annual Masterworks Concert is held
  • Sounds of the Season concert is held
  • Football competes in the first Mid Town Classic (game between Memorial and Edison)
  • 9 students and 4 teachers participate in FS1: Mission to Earth Science Trip
  • The Environmental Science Club participates in the Recycle Olympics
